Watch the video for the complete explanation on working with treatment providers.

One of the first things I ask my clients to do is to ensure that they are educating the treatment providers. What do I mean by that? I ask them to sit down and make a list before they go see their family doctor. This list will have three different categories. The first category is a list of things they simply cannot do because of their injuries. They are not able to do these things because of pain or lack of function or movement. The second category is a list of things they can do but had to modify the way in which they do those things. They either can’t do them quickly or they might have to do them over time rather than in one go. The third category is going to be things they can do without difficulty that they have to pay the price later for.

With a list of these three categories, you’re going to be able to explain to your treatment providers how your injuries impact your function day-to-day. The hope is that your treatment providers will have a better understanding of how your injuries are having an impact on your day-to-day life and hopefully they will understand your injuries a little bit better and will treat your injuries appropriately.
