Unfortunately, many physiotherapy clinics work closely with the insurance industry. That’s a problem because remember, your insurance company does not have your best interests at the forefront. They will look after their own economic interests first. Ultimately, this means avoiding paying out funds when possible. If an insurance company (your insurance company) discovers a way to avoid paying for treatment, they will. This is why we see insurance companies recommend particular physiotherapy clinics on the basis that those clinics will complete treatment and discharge you as soon as possible.

It is important to tell your physiotherapist that they do not have your authority to communicate with your insurance company. It creates a scenario where you will pay for treatments yourself and keep the receipts for later. If you can afford to do so, wait until you have finished treatment and then send the receipts in to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Returning to full health is the primary goal after an accident. Getting back to a routine as quickly as possible isn’t.
